Michael Taiwo, PhD

Founder & CEO

Michael Taiwo founded the eponymous scholarship program as an expression of his belief that opportunity should be made available to all.

He is a leader in the Energy Transition industry and mentors a generation of students and new professionals.

He lives in Lake Elsinore, California with his wife, Abimbola, and four really smart kids.

Denise Grindstaff

Board Member

Denise is a student of life, a wife and mother, and a lover of chips and salsa. Her favorite thing is listening to life stories of friends and family from around the globe. She likes to introduce new friends and old because she thinks all the phenomenal people she knows should know each other. When she’s not sharing conversation over good food and drink, you can find her hiking in the woods or floating in her kayak enjoying the beauty of God’s creation.

Salako Gbenga

Lead Mentor

Gbenga takes pride in hard work and enjoys challenges and demands. He is armed with exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

He spends a great deal of his free time to mentor, develop and empower the young scholars with knowledge and information to succeed in their chosen professions. He is passionate about educating and uplifting the downtrodden.

He lives in the Houston metropolitan area with his family. He teaches his kids and spends qualitative time with them whenever he is not working or mentoring the young professionals.

Gbenga Salako is a seasoned Chemical Engineer, goal-driven individual with an extensive experience in manufacturing and petrochemical industries. He has an in-depth knowledge in research and product development, management of change, operational excellence, and process improvement methodology amongst other competences.

Professionally, Gbenga holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun-State, Nigeria, and Clarkson University New York, United States of America, respectively. He also has a training certificate in Power BI for Business Analytics from Saint-Gobain University and a certification in Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB) from Kent State University. Prior to his departure to the United States in pursuit of an advanced degree, he worked as a Process Engineer for Mistykay Oil and Gas Limited in Nigeria.

In the United States, he has worked in different capacities as a Chemical Engineer for multiple organizations. He is currently the Process Champion for scale-up excellence of Catalytic Products in Saint-Gobain NorPro. Furthermore, he provides technical supports to the operational excellence, quality assurance and WCM teams to improve key performance indicators and overall performance of the catalytic business unit. Prior to joining Saint-Gobain, Gbenga worked as a Research and Development Chemical Engineer for Isovolta where he led full-cycle development of new products, including all activities through literature research, laboratory work, pilot plant, production scale-up and commercialization.

Olalekan Balogun, PhD

Chief Technology Officer

Olalekan Balogun is an Educator and Environmental Scientist with over ten years of teaching and research experience in physical geography, peatland carbon science and climate change. He holds a Ph.D. in Climatology (York University, Canada), and has presented his doctoral research findings at various international conferences, with publications in reputable peer-reviewed scientific journals. Presently, Olalekan is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Physics at the University of Toronto. He is also a Course Instructor at the School of the Environment at the University of Toronto. Funded by the Canadian Space Agency, his research is centred on understanding how satellite measurements of carbon monoxide can constrain Boreal Forest fire emissions and improve chemical transport and fire emissions models. Olalekan is a veteran web developer and domain administrator, with solid expertise in motion graphics design, video post-production and instructional design. He is a vibrant, optimistic, and compassionate teacher and mentor who is deeply committed to advancing education in developing countries and supporting charities that provide financial and mentorship assistance to youths. He greatly admires the impactful initiatives undertaken by MT Scholarship and considers himself privileged to be part of this incredible team.

Junayed Sadi

UX and Data Architect

Junayed Sadi is a highly skilled professional in the field of UX (User Experience) and Data Architecture. With his extensive knowledge and expertise, he brings valuable insights and innovative solutions to the design and development of user-centric digital experiences.

Having gained several years of experience, Junayed has worked on numerous projects across various industries, including technology, finance, healthcare, and e-commerce. He has a deep understanding of user behavior, interaction patterns, and industry best practices, which allows him to create intuitive and engaging interfaces that enhance user satisfaction and drive business growth.

Junayed’s journey in the field of UX began with his passion for understanding human behavior and his strong problem-solving abilities. He possesses a keen eye for detail and a strategic mindset, which enables him to analyze complex datasets and extract meaningful insights.

As a Data Architect, Junayed excels in designing and implementing robust data infrastructures that enable efficient data storage, retrieval, and analysis. He possesses a deep understanding of data modeling, database management systems, and data integration techniques. Junayed is skilled in leveraging data visualization tools and techniques to present complex information in a visually appealing and understandable manner, empowering stakeholders to make informed decisions.

Aside from his technical skills, Junayed is an excellent communicator and collaborator. He understands the importance of effective teamwork and actively engages with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of UX and data architecture into the overall product development process. His ability to bridge the gap between technical requirements and user needs makes him a valuable asset to any project team.
